Finch Group tee up fundraising success

A thriving Basingstoke-based business teed up a fundraising success by holding a Charity Golf Day in support of Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Eighteen teams took part in the fundraising event organised and hosted by independent insurance brokers Finch Group, which has offices in Basingstoke, Reading, Fleet, Southampton, and the Isle of Wight.

Test Valley Golf Club, near Overton, was the setting for the fun fundraising day in aid of the cancer charity, which is raising £5million towards a much-needed unique local cancer treatment centre.

A great day of golf, and a carvery lunch, was enjoyed by all who took part, and the cash total was swelled by the proceeds from an auction compered by Shaun Udal, former Hampshire and England cricketer and now managing director of Basingstoke-based clothing and embroidery firm Cotton Graphics.

More than £3,500 was raised on the day – and this sum will be doubled to more than £7,000 thanks to match-funding support from Greenham Common Trust through The Good Exchange fundraising portal.

Vince Gardner, managing director of Finch Group, said: “The team at Finch Group are delighted with the success of the Charity Golf Day. We are grateful to all the players who supported this fundraising event, and to everyone who donated, or bid for, the auction prizes.

“Finch Group are delighted to support Ark Cancer Centre Charity, which is raising vital funds for the new cancer treatment centre – one that will make such a big difference to cancer patients and their families.”

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications at Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: “Thank you to Vince and all at Finch Group for organising the Charity Golf Day in aid of the charity. This was a great show of support, and it is much appreciated.”
