Belgian choir and Rotary on song for Ark

A special concert by an award-winning Belgian choir will deliver some Autumnal musical magic to Odiham and boost the coffers of a charity helping to fund a much-needed local cancer treatment centre.

All Saints’ Church in Odiham will be the splendid setting for the concert of popular and light classical music by internationally-renowned Belgian choir Lyricanto.

This special event has been organised by The Rotary Club of Odiham and Hook and is being generously sponsored by The Rotary Club of Colfontaine-Borinage in Belgium.

FedsOnLegs go the extra mile - or 10 - for Ark

The fabulous FedsOnLegs have done it again!

On Sunday, October 22, three Basingstoke police officers piled on the miles as they took part in the Great South Run in support of Ark Cancer Centre Charity's £5million appeal.

It’s the second year running that Inspector Paul Pressley, Sergeant Trevor Taylor and PC Aiden Blackwell have pulled on their running shoes to support the charity – and they were among the thousands of runners to complete the 10-mile course in support of a good cause.

Lois auctions Jane Austen painting for Ark

She created one of the wonderful Sitting With Jane bookbenches that were sold on September 15 – and now artist Lois Cordelia is delivering an additional boost to Ark Cancer Centre Charity by selling a painting of Jane Austen.

Prolific artist and illustrator Lois painted a picture of the world-famous author on a medium-size canvas at the auction – and her work of art is now being sold in a separate online auction on eBay.

Half-Marathon heroes go the extra mile for Ark

They will certainly be feeling it today, but many congratulations to the more than 50 runners who completed the Basingstoke Half-Marathon in support of Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

A 50-strong team from Basingstoke Half-Marathon headline sponsor Phillips Solicitors and a three-strong team from fellow Our Partner Ark Cancer Centre Charity supporters Clarke & Son Solicitors went the extra 13.1 miles for Ark.

Both sets of runners have been fundraising through The Good Exchange, meaning that every pound they are sponsored will be match-funded by Greenham Common Trust.

Legal eagles have a ball and raise £22,500 for Ark

Legal eagles from a well-known Basingstoke law firm and fellow Ark Cancer Centre Charity supporters really had a ball at a black-tie event that raised £22,500 for the good cause.

Oakley Hall was the setting for a night of fun and fundraising as Clarke & Son Solicitors held a glittering Charity Ball – the firm’s most ambitious event of a three-year campaign to raise £50,000 for the charity.

It was the final chapter of the Sitting With Jane event, but two weeks after the bookbench auction, it's great that people are still talking about the trail and benches – and today Ark Cancer Centre Charity is pleased to confirm how much each lot went for.

Phillips Solicitors team will run for Ark

A 50-strong team from Basingstoke Half-Marathon headline sponsor Phillips Solicitors will be going the extra mile to raise funds for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Phillips Solicitors has recruited a great show of support for this year’s event on Sunday, October 1.

While all of the runners will have individual goals, the team will have a collective target – and that is to raise £5,000 for Phillips Solicitors’ chosen Charity of the Year which is Ark.

Sitting With Jane auction raises more than £70K for Ark

The Sitting With Jane event had a very happy ending as the BookBench auction raised nearly £100,000 – delivering a massive boost to Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

A Wild in Art event, delivered by Destination Basingstoke and in association with Festival Place, thousands of people enjoyed going around the Sitting With Jane public art BookBench trail between June 17 and August 30 – and the popularity of the benches, which celebrated the life of local author Jane Austen, was reflected in a very successful auction.

So, today's the day – the grand finale of the marvellous Sitting With Jane event as 22 of the bookbenches are auctioned to raise funds for a much-needed cancer treatment centre.

A ‘Wild in Art’ event, delivered by Destination Basingstoke and in association with Festival Place, thousands of people enjoyed going around the Sitting With Jane bookbench trail between June 17 and August 30, and the popularity of the bookbenches has been reflected in demand for tickets to the auction.
