Richard's marathon success for Ark

Delighted dad Richard Pilbeam is celebrating becoming a marathon man after a marvellous and memorable run saw him pile on the miles and pull in the pounds for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Months of training and hard work paid off for the 39-year-old father-of-two as he completed the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday in an impressive time of 4hours, 36 minutes and 56 seconds.

And as well as clocking up a great time on his marathon debut, the keen Basingstoke Town FC supporter is closing in on his goal of raising £1,000 the good cause.

Ark to Arc launch party pulls in the pounds

There was a real party atmosphere at the Ark to Arc launch night – and the fun evening resulted in a fabulous fundraising boost. 

The Tea Bar, in London Street, Basingstoke, was the venue for the Ark to Arc celebration event – and the generous support of auction bidders and raffle ticket buyers saw £4,400 raised.

Winklebury Cycles kindly donated a bicycle that attracted a £600 bid, and an ipad, donated by the Champion Group, and a mini rugby ball signed by England World Cup winner Jason Robinson, and donated by Vitality UK, also pulled in the pounds.

Ark supporter Natasha wins top award

Congratulations to the wonderful Natasha Watts - the fabulous Ark Cancer Centre Charity Supporter has been crowned as the Best UK Soul Artist at a prestigious awards event.

Natasha was presented with the award at the Soul Survivors Magazine Awards - and her triumph was made even sweeter by the fact that the category winner was voted for by the public.

Natasha, who is a long-standing supporter of the charity, said: "I am totally overwhelmed to have been recognised as one of the best UK Soul artists.

Ark Cancer Centre Charity donation makes a difference

Ark Cancer Centre Charity has made a key donation that will help to provide enhanced and even safer care for local cancer patients of today and the future.

The charity, which is raising £5million to help fund a unique local cancer treatment centre that will serve patients and their families in the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) area, has given £27,000 to help fund new software for the trust’s existing Radiotherapy Centre.

More 'Stoke support for Ark

Ark Cancer Centre Charity is proud to be the 2016-17 charity of the year of Basingstoke RFC President Dr Steve Tristram - and the club members and supporters continue to deliver great support to the good cause.

Last month, generous members and guests at the club's Burns' Lunch, which was sponsored by Basingstoke Audi, raised £700 which will be donated to the charity - and the even better news is that the sum will be doubled as it is being paid into The Good Exchange portal which is supported by Greenham Common Trust match-funding.

Sitting With Jane will be among the showcase projects in Hampshire as the county hosts a series of events and activities to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of the world-famous author, who spent the first 25 years of her life in Steventon near Basingstoke.
