Your one and only chance to buy a Sitting With Jane bookbench

They may be gone but they have certainly not been forgotten – and a fortnight today is the one and only chance that people and businesses will have to buy and own a Sitting With Jane bookbench.

On Friday, September 15, 22 bookbenches will be sold at auction and 75 per cent of the proceeds raised will go to the Sitting With Jane charity partner Ark Cancer Centre Charity – leaving a lasting legacy that will help and support cancer patients and their families as Ark is raising £5million towards a unique local NHS cancer treatment centre.

Plucky Danielle hits her target for Ark

Plucky Danielle Taylor showed true grit as she took on a tough walking challenge and reached her fundraising goal in support of a local cancer charity.

Twelve months ago, Danielle decided to take on the South Coast Challenge to support Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s £5million campaign to help fund a much-needed cancer treatment centre in the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) area.

Unfortunately, Danielle tore a ligament in training and had to withdraw from the event – but 12 months on, she was determined to take on the fundraising feat.

Bookbench removal starts ahead of key auction

They have delighted thousands of people – but the time to see the Sitting With Jane bookbenches is running out as they are removed in readiness for the key charity auction.

Over the next two days, the bookbenches will start to disappear from their various locations in and around Basingstoke and they will then be cleaned up ahead of the auction, which is the grand finale of the Sitting With Jane project.

WOW awards for LEJOG17 trio

It was a fundraising feat that definitely had the wow factor – so it's great news that three members of the fantastic Ark Cyclists team have been presented with WOW Awards.

Consultant orthopaedic surgeons Jonathan Hobby and Kevin Conn and consultant radiologist Peter Chapman, who all work for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, were part of a 14-strong group of riders who raised £60,000 for Ark Cancer Centre Charity by cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats (LEJOG).

Determined Danielle is ready to walk the walk for Ark

Determined Danielle Taylor is ready to walk the walk this weekend in a bid to pull in the pounds for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Twelve months ago, Danielle decided to take on the South Coast Challenge to support Ark’s £5million campaign to help fund a much-needed cancer treatment centre in the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) area.

Unfortunately, Danielle tore a ligament in training and had to withdraw from the event – but 12 months on, the legal eagle is set to rise to the challenge again on August 26 and 27.

Help Ark and own a piece of Jane Austen history

On Friday, September 15, 22 Jane Austen-inspired bookbenches are being sold at auction - and 75 per cent of the proceeds will go to Ark Cancer Centre Charity, as the charity partner of the Sitting With Jane project.

This will not only leave a lasting legacy that will help and support cancer patients and their families but will mean the successful bidders own a genuine piece of Jane Austen history following the successful Sitting With Jane project, which has been running during the Summer of 2017 to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Jane Austen.

MasterChef winner Jane's recipe for success

It was a recipe for success – and BBC MasterChef 2016 champion Jane Devonshire was at the heart of producing a winning result for Ark Cancer Centre Charity at two special Hampshire Food Festival events.

On July 6, 10 food lovers gathered at The Myers Touch in Kings Worthy, near Winchester, to enjoy a fabulous Fine Dining Experience as Jane created a marvellous menu that showcased Hampshire's finest ingredients.

Broughton Buffalo, watercress, wasabi, strawberries and black garlic were just a few of the tasty items on the menu during the evening.
