Basingstoke RFC President’s Charity Lunch

Basingstoke RFC President Dr Steve Tristram and generous club members and supporters have delivered a winning fundraising result. 

On November 7, Dr Tristram, who is supporting the Charity as his Charity of the Year, hosted a special lunch before the First XV’s home game with Cobham to celebrate the outstanding contribution to the club made by Past-President John Evans at the club . 

Fangs for the donations

Generous members of the public enjoyed some Hallowe'en fun in Festival Place and delivered a boost to Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

People taking part in spooktacular events in the Basingstoke shopping centre over the Hallowe'en weekend donated more than £360 to the charity, which has been adopted by the Festival Place team as their Charity of the Year.

Motown magic helps Ark Cancer Centre Charity campaign

Graham and Sara Marchant, who run The Old Bell and Crown, at Hatherden, hosted another successful Motown evening in aid of our Charity.

Starring singer Roy Terrel, who journeyed down from Leicester especially for the fundraising gig, the Motown evening – organised by the pub team and several regulars – has become a popular feature, and this time it attracted more than 100 people.

Asda helps out

Shoppers and staff at a Basingstoke supermarket have delivered a profile and cash boost to Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

The charity was one of three that Asda staff at the company’s Brighton Hill store chose to take part in the green token scheme during July and August.

The charity that received the most green token donations won £200, and a great show of support from Asda shoppers meant Ark Cancer Centre Charity was the winner over the two-month period.

Pile on the Miles, Pull in the Pounds

Fundraising and fitness proved to be a perfect combination as Ark Cancer Centre Charity teamed up with Basingstoke Sports Trust and The Malls shopping centre for a special event in support of Mayor's Charity Week.

'Pile on the Miles, Pull in the Pounds' was the title of the fundraiser which saw people being encouraged to cycle or row the length of the River Thames.

Participants made a donation to the Mayor's Charity Appeal, which is raising funds for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, Inspero and Basingstoke Multicultural Forum.

RSM team walk the walk for good cause

The team at RSM in Basingstoke have proved they truly are fantastic fit fundraisers by taking on some challenging feats for their chosen charity of the year.

On Sunday, October 4, Mike Blain, Office Managing Partner, and colleagues Tim Smith and Jo Gibbons were among the Ark100 team that raised funds for Ark Cancer Centre Charity by taking part in the Destination Basingstoke Phillips Half-Marathon.

Ark100 team make successful half-marathon debut

The Ark100 team piled on the miles and pulled in the pounds at Sunday's Destination Basingstoke Phillips Half-Marathon.

A 30-strong group of runners took part as the charity fielded its first-ever team in the event, which was marking its fifth anniversary.

So far, the team members have raised more than £5,400 – a superb effort – and it is hoped that the final total will be boosted by some post-event donations.

Hospital football team supports Ark Cancer Centre Charity

A keenly-contested friendly football match between two hospital teams produced a winning result for a local cancer charity.

A Basingstoke Hospital FC team took on opponents from Southampton General Hospital FC in the charity match at Hampshire Football Association’s Winklebury headquarters in Basingstoke.

In a close-fought game, the Southampton side edged out their north Hampshire opponents 3-2 – but there was a positive result for Basingstoke-based Ark Cancer Centre Charity.
