Wentworth Golf Day

Local businessman William Quail of ColdKit UK Ltd supported the charity on 7th June 2013 when he organised a charity golf day at Wentworth golf club Virginia Water. Merv Rees was delighted to have been invited to play at the event and meet up with other local businesses.

Midsummer Soiree

A Midsummer Soiree was held at The Barn at Upper Cranbourne Farm in Sutton on 22nd June 2013. The evening began with an illustrated talk by Lady Young about her father, the sculptor Oscar Nemon and, after the interval, was followed by a concert given by Hannah Medlam, soprano, Lukas Medlam, violin and David Owen Norris, piano. Over £4,000 was raised during the evening, which was introduced by Merv Rees.

Sherfield-on-Loddon Fete

Ark Cancer Centre Charity was delighted to have been chosen to receive some of the funds raised at the Sherfield-on-Loddon annual fete on Saturday 8th June 2013. Merv Rees was invited to open the event, so after being a part of the grand opening parade, he welcomed everyone to the event before taking a look round many of the stalls. The charity also had an information point at the fete and we thank everyone involved.

 

North Hampshire Nordic Walk

A group of North Hampshire Nordic Walkers set off on a 10K sponsored walk on 11th May 2013 across the Hampshire Downs to raise money for the charity while they maintained their fitness. Joanna Lewis, the leader of the group, which meets in Hannington on Tuesdays and Saturdays, said members were inspired to undertake the walk by the huge benefits to patients and families that the new centre will bring.

Lloyds Bank show support at local business event

Thank you to everyone who attended the annual Lloyds Bank local businesses event at the Red Lion in Basingstoke. The support of those who attended and bought raffle tickets is very much appreciated. Lloyds have also very generously agreed to double the donation through their community support charity.

Ark the Herald Angels Sing

One of our very first fundraising took part close to home in the staff canteen at Basingstoke Hospital. Local singer Angie Cook held a Christmas karaoke to entertain staff and patients just before the Christmas break.

Brides of Odiham Fashion Show

Barbara Ryder, owner of Brides of Odiham held a fashion show and fayre in Odiham with brides past and present modelling in All Saints Church in December 2012. Over £1,000 was raised at the event. Barbara told us she was happy to help support the charity in order to prevent cancer patients needing to travel long distances for their treatment.

The Gazette is delighted to support the Ark Centre Cancer Campaign

As a newspaper that is at the heart of the local community, The Gazette has a proud tradition of promoting and supporting causes that will benefit its readership and the wider local population, and the cancer centre campaign is definitely one such good cause.

The cancer centre will make a significant and important difference to the lives of so many cancer sufferers and their families, and The Gazette will do all it can to encourage local people to support the campaign. This will be a centre for the people, and it will be a caring place to be proud of.

Ark Cancer Centre Charity Launch Dinner

Guests including North Hampshire West MP Sir George Young, former Conservative Government minister Lord Wakeham and Hampshire-based actress Sarah Parish, of Peak Practice and Mistresses fame, sat down to a three-course dinner before they heard why it is so vital for the public to get behind the campaign to raise £5million towards the cost of the new cancer centre that is to be built in north Hampshire.

The black-tie launch dinner, held in The Ark Conference Centre, was the first step towards meeting that target.
