Support from local networking group

The local networking group Women in Business have elected to show their support for the charity for the year starting April 2013. The group which meets monthly holds a collection at each meeting in aid of the charity. Merv Rees was welcomed in May and introduced the group to the charity’s aims. In July, Dr Lara Alloway shared more information about how the cancer treatment centre will benefit the local community. The group who meet monthly support a different charity each year and their support for the charity raised over £700. 

Highclere and East Woodhay Society Charity Walk

Despite the threat of bad weather, about 160 walkers from Highclere, Woolton Hill and the surrounding villages met up at the Red House in Highclere for their 29th Annual Charity Christmas Walk.

A big thank you for a big cheque from Test Valley Golf Club

Thank you so very much to everyone who took part in various fundraising events over the past year at Test Valley Golf Club. Ladies Captain, Dawn Nicholson, proposed Ark Cancer Centre Charity as this year's beneficiary and we were delighted to receive a cheque for £14,000. Dawn herself took part in a cycling challenge and the ladies team put on their very own fashion show. In addition, the Club produced their very own version of a"calender girls (boys)" calender!  Merv Rees was delighted to receive the cheque on behalf of the charity at their annual dinner.

Andover Raffle

Janet Rolls and Jenny Gow, two dedicated charity fundraisers from Andover smashed their own fundraising target of £5,000 to reach a magnificent £6,500 with their hugely successful charity raffle in aid of the Charity.

The two friends embarked on their mission to raise much needed funds for the charity in November and in just 8 weeks managed to sell all 5,000 tickets as they spent every spare minute selling tickets locally, on Andover High Street, in Kenyon's Fruit & Veg shop, Wilkinson’s and at Basingstoke hospital.

Runathon

Natasha Rolls, aged 23 from Andover, was determined to raise money towards the Ark Cancer Centre Charity when she organised a 24-hour runathon at her place of work, the Arqiva office in Winchester. Her target was to raise £500 to support her mum who is fighting breast cancer. Mum Janet Rolls raised £6,500 with friend Jenny Gow by holding a hugely successful Christmas raffle. The family are great supporters and fundraisers for the charity.

Woolton Hill Christmas Shopping Event

Despite the dreadful weather, the ladies of Woolton Hill turned out in force to support a local Christmas shopping day. Over 100 started their Christmas shopping early on the 8th November with lots of local crafts on sale. Thank you to Lynn Furness, Pam Garland, Sarah Bowen and everyone involved in making such a good event happen.

Charity by Candlelight

The people of Newnham decided that the opportunity to have a world class cancer centre on their doorstep was not to be missed! So Clive Pinder and June James organised a charity event which included a candlelight concert in St Nicholas Church, Newnham with support from Chris James, local singer-songwriter and East Londoners, Andy and James who entertained the guests with well-known classics, which ended in the audience on its feet, singing along.

Mid Wales Coast to Coast

Thank you to George Bounds who took part in this event and walked 130 miles across a very wet Wales to help raise money towards the cancer centre.

Test Valley Golf Club Fashion Show 2013

Golfers put their best foot forward

The ladies golf team of the Test Valley Golf Club took to the catwalk to raise £1,300 for the charity through the show, held at the club in Micheldever Road, Overton.

Dawn Nicholson, ladies captain of the club, said: “The evening was a great success and just part of a series of activities undertaken this year in support of The Ark Cancer Centre Charity, which is an incredibly worthwhile cause that will potentially benefit every family in the area. Tickets sold out weeks before the show took place.”

Abseiling for our cancer centre

A big thank you to everyone who abseiled down the side of Basingstoke Hospital and helped raise some money for our Charity. Organised by Shopmobility in Basingstoke, this annual event sees individuals challenge themselves for Charity - amazing!
