Legal eagles have a ball and raise £22,500 for Ark

Legal eagles from a well-known Basingstoke law firm and fellow Ark Cancer Centre Charity supporters really had a ball at a black-tie event that raised £22,500 for the good cause.

Oakley Hall was the setting for a night of fun and fundraising as Clarke & Son Solicitors held a glittering Charity Ball – the firm’s most ambitious event of a three-year campaign to raise £50,000 for the charity.

The well-known Basingstoke law firm, based in Winchester Road, was one of the first Our Partner corporate supporters of the fledgling charity in February 2015 – and the firm also supported Ark’s £5million appeal, which will help to fund a unique local cancer treatment centre, in 2016-17.

The September 22 ball, which featured star turns by comedy legend Adger Brown, magician Andy Reay, and live music from Boom Town, was a great success as the generous ball guests dug deep to support a live and silent auction which featured a super selection of prizes including rare signed memorabilia and artwork.

Darren Lovegrove, marketing manager at Clarke & Son, said: “After six months of planning, everyone at Clarke & Son is delighted that the Charity Ball was such a success and that everyone had a great time.

“The team are grateful to our clients and many Ark Cancer Centre Charity supporters who came along to support the charity. The money that was raised will be match-funded by Greenham Common Trust through The Good Exchange portal, and this means that the ball will have raised £22,500, which is a terrific result.”

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications at Ark Cancer Centre Charity thanked the Clarke & Son team and the ball guests for their fantastic support for the charity and the cancer treatment centre project, and was pleased to tell everyone that the appeal fundraising total has now reached £1.6million.

"The support from the Clarke & Son team has been absolutely amazing,” said Mark. “This was an ambitious fundraising event and it is great that the hard work of Darren and everyone at Clarke & Son, and the generosity of those who came to the ball, has resulted in a super sum being raised for the charity.”
