Legal eagles soar to charity success

They are amazing supporters of Ark Cancer Centre Charity – and the fantastic team at Clarke & Son Solicitors have now set their sights on reaching a £50,000 goal as they continue their fundraising into a third year.

The well-known Basingstoke law firm, based in Winchester Road, was one of the first Our Partner corporate supporters of the fledgling charity in February 2015 – and the legal eagles also supported Ark’s £5million appeal, which will help to fund a unique local cancer treatment centre, in 2016-17.

Among the events that clocked up the cash over the last year were a Charity Golf Day and a 24-hour sponsored Row to Nowhere, which saw members of the team piling on the pulling power on a static rowing machine in the firm's boardroom.

The success of the 2016-17 fundraising drive means that the Clarke & Son team were delighted to present Ark Cancer Centre Charity trustee Merv Rees with a cheque for £18,040.29.

Darren Lovegrove, marketing manager at Clarke & Son, said: “Ark Cancer Centre Charity is an amazing charity that we are all passionate about.

“The team have been delighted to exceed our fundraising efforts in 2015-16, and we are grateful to everyone who has sponsored and supported our various events.

“Raising money through The Good Exchange, where match-funding for Ark is being provided by Greenham Common Trust, has helped us to achieve an amazing result in 2016-17 – and now we have set our sights on raising even more money this year as we aim to hit a £50,000 target over the three years that we have been supporting the charity.”

The key events on the Clarke & Son team’s fundraising calendar for 2017-18 are a Charity Golf Day on Thursday, June 29 and a Charity Ball at Oakley Hall on Friday, September 22.

Darren said: “The golf day and the charity ball will be fun events, and we would be delighted if many people in our business network come along, enjoy themselves and show their support for our charity of the year.”

Mr Rees thanked the Clarke & Son team for their fantastic support for the charity and the cancer treatment centre project.

"The support from the Clarke & Son team has been absolutely amazing,” he said. “They are a wonderful, friendly, fun and supportive team who have really thrown themselves into fundraising for the charity.

"To have their charity of the year backing for a third consecutive year is an honour, and a significant show of support.

"Thanks to everyone who has supported the Clarke & Son team so far, and we are grateful to all those who support their drive to reach the £50,000 target."
