Legals eagles enjoy a soaraway success

Adventurous staff at a Basingstoke law firm are celebrating an impressive achievement after pulling in the pounds for a charity that is raising vital funds for a unique local cancer treatment centre.

The team at Clarke & Son Solicitors made Ark Cancer Centre Charity their charity of the year for 2015, and several members of the team really threw themselves into fundraising challenges to support the good cause.

Support staff, solicitors and partners at the well-known firm, which has its offices in Winchester Road, took on various fundraising feats under the team name The Lost Marbles.

Climbing Snowden was followed a few months later by an abseiling adventure in Cheddar Gorge before an intrepid treble challenge was rounded off towards the end of the year by those who took on a 6km obstacle course.

Members of the Clarke & Son team were delighted to present a cheque for £2,115 to Ark Cancer Centre Charity trustee Merv Rees and Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications for the charity.

The presentation of the cheque is a boost for the charity as is the news that the Clarke & Son team have voted to continue their Charity of the Year support during 2016.

Clarke & Son partner Claire Redhead said: “The team have put in a lot of effort, and had a lot of fun, raising money for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and it is such a good cause that we have decided to continue our support for it during 2016.”

Mr Rees updated the Clarke & Son team on the progress of the charity’s mission to raise £5million towards the cancer treatment centre, and he thanked them for their fundraising efforts.

He said: “The Clarke & Son team have clearly put a lot of effort into raising funds for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and their significant contribution is much appreciated, as is their ongoing support.”
