MasterChef winner Jane's recipe for success

It was a recipe for success – and BBC MasterChef 2016 champion Jane Devonshire was at the heart of producing a winning result for Ark Cancer Centre Charity at two special Hampshire Food Festival events.

On July 6, 10 food lovers gathered at The Myers Touch in Kings Worthy, near Winchester, to enjoy a fabulous Fine Dining Experience as Jane created a marvellous menu that showcased Hampshire's finest ingredients.

Broughton Buffalo, watercress, wasabi, strawberries and black garlic were just a few of the tasty items on the menu during the evening.

Each course was paired with a carefully-selected wine chosen by expert wine advisor Paul Keating, from Basingstoke-based Berry Bros & Rudd.

One week later, Jane was back at the same award-winning venue, and this time she teamed up with fellow MasterChef finalist Juanita Hennessey to put on a Canapés and Cocktails event in support of Ark.

Around 80 guests enjoyed an evening of good food, again featuring Hampshire products, and cocktails created by the team from Winchester Distillery.

A silent auction featuring a range of splendid prizes, including a MasterChef apron signed by Jane and Juanita, helped to boost the amount of money raised for Ark.

Over the two events, more than £3,300 was raised and the final donation will be doubled once match-funding is added by Greenham Common Trust through The Good Exchange fundraising portal.

Mother-of-four Jane, who has had an amazing and hectic year since she won the MasterChef crown, including appearing at food festivals all over the country, was delighted with the success of both events.

Jane, from Four Marks, has twice battled cancer – something she did not reveal until after her MasterChef journey was over. She was treated for liver cancer by world-renowned surgeon Merv Rees, who is a trustee of Ark Cancer Centre Charity and a driving force behind the cancer treatment centre project.

Merv said: "Ark is so grateful to the wonderful Jane Devonshire, Hampshire Fare, The Myers Touch team, Paul and all at Berry Bros & Rudd, and all of the fabulous Hampshire food producers, and companies, who supported these two special events.

"The kind and generous support of all those who attended is much appreciated, and it is great that both of these events have helped to raise further awareness of, and funds for, the charity and the cancer treatment centre project."
